About
Rebekah Marxen is an artist based in northern New Jersey whose current studio practice utilizes contemporary stained glass methods combined with acrylic painting and found object assemblage. Proficient in a variety of artistic media, Rebekah's one-of-a-kind mixed-media works challenge her to explore multiple materials and techniques simultaneously.
An avid collector of curiosities since childhood, she's spent countless hours beachcombing, mudlarking, and fossil hunting. As her collection expanded, she realized the best way to display her "finds" was to repurpose them through her artistic practice. In doing so, Rebekah gives new life to objects and notions otherwise lost to tide, trend, or time.
Rebekah received her BFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts in 2001 and is a certified New Jersey public school Teacher of Fine Art. Since 2006, she has taught Visual Art, Pottery, and AP Art History at the high school level, and has been the recipient of the New Jersey Governor's Teacher of the Year Award for her district.
